IINE’s Suitcase Stories program has featured over 200 storytellers since the program launched in 2017. Meet some of the participants and hear more about their backstories and perspectives on fostering inclusive communities.

About the Speaker:

U-Meleni is a Boston based Zimbabwean American Performance Artist, Singer,Educator and Published Poet. Her debut book of poetry “Soul Psalms “was described by David Updike as “ ..songs, poems, chants, passionate incantations of a fearless female voice”. She is a graduate of Lesley University & currently an Adjunct Professor in English at Endicott College Boston. Performances include: Boston Opera House, Symphony Hall, Scullers Jazz Club, Museum of Fine Arts, ICA, Book Cafe in Zimbabwe and South Africa to name a few. Her work has been used in Film, Music, TV, Theatre, and documentaries. She is also a fitness advocate and marathoner who has to date run over 5o races including the Boston Marathon in 2012 and is currently training for the Chicago Marathon (10/8) with Team World Vision.
